Who is the course for?

If you have passed your HGV Licence prior to September 10th 2009, you need to make sure you complete 35 hours of approved driver CPC training by September 10th 2014.
European legislation dictates that drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, who have not completed 35 hours of training by September 10th 2014, can have their license cancelled by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

How is the course delivered?

Your course of approved training is delivered in a classroom-type environment with an emphasis on group participation and discussion to ensure use of best practice is achieved. During the day you will complete two courses on different subjects to help ensure that you will be able to continue to drive in a safe and efficient manner.
At the end of each course you will complete a multiple choice assessment paper to prove your knowledge and competence in the training subject covered.

We can run a driver CPC course at your premises for up to a maximum of 20 delegates, for more details please contact one of our training advisors. How much does the course cost?

If you want to attend one of our open courses the price for the course is £95 per person plus vat, this price includes your certification & upload fees and we even make sure you get a decent lunch and refreshments.   • The DVSA upload fees (this is the notification fee that tells the DVSA how many hours of approved training you have completed).

Frequently Asked Questions

New European legislation means that if you do not complete the training your license could be cancelled. The broader aims of the scheme are to raise the knowledge and skills of HGV drivers by:
  • improving road safety;
  • reducing the impact on the environment through reduced fuel usage and vehicle maintenance;
  • raising the public's perception of professional HGV
After you have carried out 35 hours of approved training, your card will be sent to your home address as listed with the DVSA.
Within 5 working days of you attending your Driver CPC course, we will ensure that it is showing on the DVSA database.
You need to go to the http://www.gov.uk/check-your-driver-cpc-periodic-training-hours , then enter your driving license number and the DVSA will send you a password in the post. Once you have received your password, you can then revisit the above site and check that your hours have been uploaded.
Yes! If you are driving professionally for any period of time, you will be required to hold CPC. It is not the number of hours worked which affects the requirement for CPC, it is the type of driving undertaken.
Yes! The regulations apply in all EU member states.
Driver CPC applies across all EU member states, therefore all of those drivers will have to carry whatever their home country uses to evidence Driver CPC.
